Xtra Scheduler’s functionality was so handy that it now shares a common library with the ASPx Scheduler.Of course, all the painting and web specific features are still provided by the ASPx Scheduler.Whether sorting, grouping or filtering, it will optimize queries to quickly pull only the necessary data.It also does intelligent caching so it doesn’t have to run the same query if it was recently run. Here was my first experience in using this control.Download and install DXperience 2007 vol 3 Beta: 10 minutes (multitasking with email) Launch Visual Studio 2005: 1 minute Create a new website project: 1 minute Drop an ASPx Scheduler on the Web Form: 10-15 seconds Here I was blown away at the great layout and design done by the team.
The steps aren’t complicated, basically all you have to do is initialize XPO, create an XPOData Source and then hook it up to the ASPx Grid View.
For the XPOData Source, set the Server Mode to true and Type Name to the large table that will be displayed by the ASPx Grid View: Set the ASPx Grid View’s Data Source property to the XPOData Source: Add the following Page_Init method to your page: That’s it, you’re done! If you don’t have this database then you can download it from Code Plex.
You can now run the project and experience the fast and amazing performance of using the Developer Express Data Controller. I recommend creating a project that uses your own database and large tables.
The wizard generated file contains object representations of the database tables for use by the XPOData Source as you’ll soon see.
This file doesn’t require any modification and can be closed: There are only two places that will require initialization code.
Building upon the interface options introduced in Microsoft Outlook, the ASPx Scheduler Suite gives you the ability to create a superior UI with unrivaled flexibility and design options.
